Scanned Items

I found out yesterday that when some one scans a document and converts it to a pdf file (put in sideways) it is hard to read. However, with the tablet pc's ability to rotate the screen, it makes it easier to read.

Hope everyone had a good break! See you on the 19th!

Nothing to do with Technology

What I don't miss about being a superintendent of schools.....

Being at work today and listening to all of the staff asking if we are having school tomorrow!Being at work today and listening to all of the parents asking if we are having school tomorrow!Being at work today and listening to all of the kids asking if we are having school tomorrow
Keeping my eye on the Weather Channel all day long!
Going home tonight and hearing all of the weather people forcast bad weather, forgetting that they are wrong 60% of the time.
Getting up at 3:30 AM to drive the roads to see if we can have school or not.
Getting to school, tired, and deciding not to close school.
Listening to all of the staff whine about not closing school!
Listening to all of the parents whine about not closing school!
Listening to all of the kids whine about not closing school!
Explaining to the TV and radio stations why I did not close school.
Watching TV and newspaper people milling about the schools taking pictures and asking why we
have school!

Holly,

Glad to have you back. I have still only used the Tablet PC for correcting assignements, but it is pretty easy to use for that. My next attempt to use it will be when I attend a couple of conferences in late November/early December. Those are not in China, though :(

Good luck to you on your trip and see if you can come up with some new uses for it over there.

Itunes Question for today

I have a question if anyone can answer it. Dawn helped me set up Itunes and now I found out I not only have the two podcasts I downloaded, I also have a SHARED folder with Natalie's music. I don't know where it came from?????

Any suggestions?

My Trip to Florida

I just read Betsy's posting. While I don't watch TV, I can see a use for Tablet PC's when reviewing autopsies, or even taking notes when you are in the engineering business. I am visiting my twin daughters who are engineers that work on the shuttles. The like my Tablet PC and say it could come in handy in their line of work. One works on the fuel lines and other liquid systems and the other works on the steering jets on the two with tanks. I hope the government buys them a Tablet PC.....I didn't offer to leave mine behind.

On the trip town I used my tablet to correct the finals I had submitted for my Collective Bargaining Course. It worked out well. I made my notes on their word files and emailed them back. I like it.

I am currently trying to find out how I can use the Tablet PC to improve my golf game.

Any suggetions?

A New Start

Evidently something bad happened to Holly's blog site, so I decided to pick it up and create another one. I have also created a second blog that I have titled something like John's day at work. I am adding to it when I can find time. Now that it looks like golf season is almost over, I may have more time. After I get back from Florida to visit my daughters this weekend.

Here is my tablet PC input.....

Today I am trying to learn more about the tablet PC. I have looked at some of the webpages Dawn has sent to us. It appears that engineering classes, or art classes will have many uses. I have had some problems trying to see the text when I use my tablet to correct tests. It seems the reflection from the overhead lights is not a good thing. I will try to find some other uses for it.

On a side note, I sent out emails to conduct some research for the department, with a link to SurveyMonkey. Of the ten emails I sent out, six have not got through. I think we are getting too many filters out there in cyperspace.
